"The hills are alive with the sound of music..."

This just in!

Tomie just called from New York City and BookExpo America where booksellers are meeting. Tomie was one of four featured speakers at the Children's Book and Author Breakfast this morning hosted by Julie Andrews Edwards.

A little background first...
Judy Collins was the Pratt Institute commencement speaker on May 18, 2009 at Radio City Music Hall. When Judy Collins got to the podium, she said she preferred to get "this" out of the way first. She sang one of her best known songs. (Judy Collins sang several more songs during her speech. We were treated to a mini-Judy Collins concert at Radio City Music Hall!)

So, this morning, after reaching the podium at the Breakfast, Tomie told the story about Judy Collins at the Pratt commencement, and then he said something similar about wanting to get "this" out of the way right now. He next started singing "The hills are alive with the sound of music..." Apparently the audience loved it, as did Julie Andrews Edwards.

He said he concluded his talk by singing "So long, farewell..."
