Ms. Rohla's second grade class at St. Helena Catholic School in Minneapolis asked a question.

Class: When you win an award for your stories or your illustrations, do you actually get a real medal?

Tomie: Sometimes. Some of the medals I've received are for the Regina Medal Award, the Caldecott Honor Award and the Newbery Honor Award. I'll receive a medal in June for the Laura Ingalls Wilder Award. I should wear the medals all at the same time!
